2014 Dodge Ram 1500

2014-dodge-ram-1500 The 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 will look similar to the 2013 model, but it will run much more safely and efficiently

For the longest time diesel engines have only been available in heavy duty trucks. The 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 makes that statement a thing of the past, and here at Briggs Dodge, we couldn't be any happier. For all of the power junkies out there the Hemi V-8 will still be available, but the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine will provide the light duty truck with similar power, but a better fuel economy.

The EcoDiesel V-6 is capable of a best-in-class 420 lb-ft of torque and 240 horsepower. Though the Hemi V-8 offers 155 additional horsepower, its torque is still lower than the EcoDiesel. Both enginges will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, another new addition to the Ram. Chrysler has claimed that the fuel economy ratings will top the class. That should be an easy claim to back up, as the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 is the only light duty diesel available.

2014-Dodge-Ram-1500-Engine-Diesel The exact fuel economy of the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine has not been released yet.

Diesel-powered vehicles already offer an increase of 25 to 30 percent fuel efficiency, but new innovations in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 are expected to increase that percentage even more. Included in these innovations is a pulse-width modulation technology which takes unnecessary load off the alternator, and a variable displacement compressor which works to maximize efficiency of the air conditioner and take strain off the engine. These are just two of the virtually undetectable technologies which add about .5 percent improvement in fuel efficiency each. Their efforts seem small, but when all of the small fuel-saving technologies in the 2014 Ram 1500 combine, they give quite the boost to fuel efficiency.

Chrysler has announced that the new Ram model will be available late 2013. As the year is coming to a close, it won’t be long before the Ram hits our showroom floor.
